Carpentry/Furniture Problems

Saloon dining table problems

Dining table in Saloon has been designed poorly in that both extension leafs are not being supported adequately by the mechanism. This results in extension leafs bending downwards. When dinnerware and other items are placed on them, the leafs slope downwards further dangerously as to objects on top slide and fall off the table.
This problem has been spotted at very early stages (ie approx 3 months before planned handover date) and the yard been informed about it. Unfortunately they have chosen to ignore the issue in due course, which inevitably surfaced again during handover inspections.

Dining table poorly designed extension leafs so as to not even being able to hold its own weight

In an effort to solve the issue, first they requested a modification kit which took 10 days to receive from the shipyard. As soon as the kit arrived, the table has been dismantled by a carpenter (without checking contents of the kit first), who later realized that pieces were missing on the kit. He could not put the table back together and left it on the floor in pieces for a week or so. Then a senior engineer was sent onboard to assemble the table back to its original state.

In the meantime, Princess dealer many times promised to finalize the matter in a week or so, each time postponing the completion due to X Y Z reasons. Finally they admitted that the factory was aware of the issue and "working on a new design", that other boats were affected with the problem as well etc etc. In short, nothing was about to happen soon.

A few interim solutions have been suggested to ameliorate the support of the leafs but the dealer chose to take no action.
As of today, 147 days have past since the dealer has been informed about the issue and the problem has been discussed many times but up until now, no concrete progress has been made.
